Having a Back Surgery With Dr. Ezriel Kornel
On this year's Castle Connolly Top Doctors list, eight doctors from Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York, or BSSNY, are highlighted among the nation's foremost practitioners.
Castle Connolly's selection of such a large number of BSSNY doctors is a high honor for the White Plains-based practice. The Top Doctors list has served as a trusted source for more than 25 years, and its selections are based on merit.
While there are more than 850,000 practicing doctors in the United States, just over 60,000 make it through the rigorous Top Doctors selection process.

The inclusion of the above doctors on the Top Doctors list confirms their place among the most prestigious practitioners in the United States.
Passing the rigorous selection process
Castle Connolly distinguishes itself from other ranking organizations by soliciting input from other doctors instead of patients. That means in order to make the Castle Connolly list, each of the aforementioned BSSNY doctors was nominated by other medical professionals familiar with their work. All nominees then have to pass a strict screening process to determine whether they meet Castle Connolly's rigorous standards.
The screening process is completed by a physician-led research team. Some of the categories that the team researches before finalizing the Top Doctors list consist of education, professional qualifications, hospital and faculty appointments, professional reputation, research leadership, and more.
In addition to deciding whether a doctor meets these important professional criteria, Castle Connolly asks nominating physicians to take interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and communicate, into consideration. This is a key factor that helps make sure that doctors are effective at not only delivering results but also providing their patients with care in every sense of the word.
From start to finish, the selection process is merit-based. Doctors do not pay any fee to get on the list and cannot buy their way into the rankings. Each and every day, BSSNY's honorees are committed to living up to their inclusion on the list, furthering their strong reputations, and meeting patients' high expectations.
Giving back: Leaders in research
As the home of some of the nation's top medical professionals, BSSNY is committed to giving back to the medical community. From publishing groundbreaking research in medical journals to presenting at conferences like the annual Spine Summit, the practice's doctors are proud to share their knowledge widely and help the entire field of medicine reach new heights.
